10 Mar Healthy RED Copycat Shamrock Shake
Written by, Christine Chanel
Step aside Ronald—Feast your eyes on our healthy RED copycat shamrock shake. It’s finally March. After a long year, and a longer winter—those of us who live in colder climates are one step closer to warm sunshine once again. Warmer weather calls for not only wearing brighter colors…but, eating (or, drinking) them too.
Minty Fixation
Addicted to mint—either you are yourself or you’re bound to know someone who is. So many of us count down the day until that sweet, creamy minty treat hits our local McDonald’s. The true unofficial start of spring! It’s great, right? Eh. Sorry to burst your bubble—but, if you’re on a healthy lifestyle journey…the classic McD’s dessert may be something you want to steer clear of. The fast-food shamrock shake contains a whopping 800 calories for a large! Alongside 113g of carbs, 103g of sugar, and no real nutritional benefit. Ouch—that one hurts.
The Luck of Mint
The classic shamrock shake features something called “shamrock shake syrup” (aka sugar, artificial dyes, and words that we can’t pronounce). We’re gonna pass on that. On the other hand, real peppermint offers plenty of benefits. Peppermint is always a great source to help ease internal muscles, such as the uterine wall which can help alleviate menstrual cramps. Peppermint also works as an anti-inflammatory that can aid in digestion help targeting areas such as gas, bloating, and indigestion. It can also relieve irritated sinuses, thinning mucous by acting as a decongestant. She’s delicious AND effective? Who knew! Authentic peppermint extract paired with other nutritious fruits and vegetables will create a powerhouse of energy. You can feel both festive and healthy at the same time!
